Double Espresso Chiaro Nespresso Vertuo Review
Share this post:

If you’ve read my review of Nespresso Il Caffè, you probably have guessed by now that I’m on a path of discovery. I recently acquired the Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee machine and thought it would be a great idea to try the various Nespresso Vertuo-compatible coffee pods and review them.

In this review article, I’m going to discuss the Double Espresso Chiaro coffee pods for Nespresso Vertuo. This coffee offers a unique and balanced flavor profile with medium intensity and bitterness.

I wrote this review to help you decide if you should buy Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro coffee. At the end of the article, I will also recommend some alternative options that will suit different taste preferences.

What is Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro?

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro is a coffee blend made with Arabica beans from South and Central Americas. No wonder a single capsule of it packs in the earthy and woody notes of wild forests. These coffee pods are compatible with Nespresso Vertuo coffee machines and are best for making a double espresso sized coffee drink.

Double Espresso Chiaro Nespresso Vertuo Features

Nespresso Vertuo machines use a centrifugal brewing system to extract the coffee and the Vertuo Next machine automatically recognizes the pod and makes the right amount of coffee. For the Chiaro coffee pods, this means it will brew a 2.7 oz (80 ml) double espresso shot with one coffee pod.

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro pods are available both in a 10-capsule sleeve and in a pack of 30 capsules.

The coffee is packaged in recyclable aluminum capsules to preserve the freshness and flavor of the coffee for a long time. Each capsule contains 10 grams of roast and ground coffee, which is the perfect amount for a double shot of espresso.

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro Flavor Profile

The flavor profile of Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro is quite intense yet balanced. It boasts a blend of aromatic earthy and woody notes that are reminiscent of the wild forests of South and Central America. I really enjoyed flavor when having it as a double espresso but I like the Chiaro even more with some steamed milk.

The carefully roasted beans make your coffee intense but the range of woody tones takes you on a pleasant journey of flavors.

The aroma is subtle yet distinct, and the taste is smooth and satisfying, not heavy on the palate. Undertones of blond caramel and the creamy texture make for a rich latte experience if you want to add some steamed milk to your Chiaro coffee.

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro Caffeine Content

One double espresso coffee made with a Nespresso Chiaro capsule contains about 135 milligrams of caffeine. This is just the right amount of caffeine to give you a nice energy boost without too much jitters.

A regular 8–ounce cup of coffee has about 100 milligrams of coffee so one Double Espresso Chiaro is a tad bit stronger than that.

I had my first Chiaro coffee with a breakfast of orange juice and ham croissant and that was a perfect way to start the day. The flavor combination was spot on and the caffeine helped me wake up and have a productive morning.

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro Features

Every type of Nespresso Vertuo coffee has many different features from bitterness and acidity to roast level and intensity. However, it can sometimes be a bit unclear what all of these things mean. Here I will explain all of the characteristics of Double Espresso Chiaro so that you can better understand what this coffee is all about.

So let’s get an overview of the main features of Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro coffee pods.

Origin

Both washed and dry-processed Arabica beans from the Central and South Americas are used to create the powerful blend of Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro. The result is an intense and wild cup of coffee.

Bitterness

With a bitterness score of 3 out of 5, the Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro is a strong coffee but not a bitter one. You can feel the bitterness and intensity but it won’t overwhelm you.

Acidity

The low level of acidity in Double Espresso Chiaro – 1 out of 5 – keeps the taste smooth and enjoyable without any unpleasant sharpness.

Roast Level

The dry-processed and the washed Arabica beans are separately roasted. Both the dry-processed and washed beans are roasted intensely for a short time to bring out the best flavors from both. The roast level of 3 out of 5 is intense but not too strong or too dark.

Body

The body in the Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro scores 2 out of 5. The body is on the lighter side, not feeling heavy on the tongue, but surprisingly, you get a thick creamy texture when you add milk or creamer to the coffee.

Intensity

The intensity level of Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro is 8. This can be translated to medium-intensity coffee. The acidity, bitterness, and flavor profile are balanced perfectly to create a smooth and powerful cup where the woody aroma shines through.

Finish

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro has a delicate profile with subtle flavor notes. It is a blend of South and Central American beans that offer a smooth and creamy texture with a distinct aroma. Once brewed, you will experience the notes of caramel, which gives way to a sweet buttery finish.

Portion Size

80 ml or 2.7 oz is the perfect portion size for Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro so that you can savor the flavor profile of the coffee.

If you want a single shot of espresso with a similar intensity you can also try Nespresso Altissio.

Price

Per capsule, the price of Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro is $1.15 and the pack of 10 capsules cost $11.50 in the US. This is the typical price for double espresso and gran lungo type Nespresso coffee capsules. Prices might vary according to your location.

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro Review Conclusion

Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro is for those who don’t stick to one kind of coffee taste. The balanced and medium intensity of the coffee is ideal for those who like to have coffee either black or as a latte with steamed milk.

The balanced taste of Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro makes it an ideal choice for those who prefer milder flavors and smoothness in their coffee. If you want something stronger, check out my review of Nespresso Intenso.
